Rested baby is a happy baby

Since I became pregnant last year, I talked to a lot of mothers and asked them questions about babies and routine. Most of them told me that babies crave for routine. Having had almost 4 months of experience being a mom (I know, it's not much), I already see the difference in my baby boy.

From week 1, my husband and I started a bedtime routine which consists of: bath, massage, bottle and bed. My amazing husband was responsible for feeding him and putting him to bed. This routine starts at anywhere between 7 and 7:30 pm, depending how tired the munchkin is. Now, at almost 4 months, our baby boy gets tired at around 7 and the minute we put him in his bath he becomes relax. We wash him, massage him and dress him up under 20 minutes. As he goes in his room with my husband, I prepare his bottle. If my husband sits down on the chair without a bottle in his hand, baby starts to protest...he knows the routine! Hubby feeds him and baby eats until he is full. At this point he is drowsy but not fully asleep. We put him in his crib and 5-10 minutes after, he is asleep without any drama!

I realize that by doing this day in and day out, our baby has associated each element of this nightly routine to bedtime. We try not to get him overtired, because when babies are overtired, they tend to get fussy.

At 2 and half months, I started instating a regular nap routine. I will share with you the routine and progress in the next post.

Here are some the must have items for our bath time/bedtime routine:

Aquaphor by Eucerin: best for babies with dry skin

Dr Bronner's magic soap for babies with sensitive skin

Panasonic cold mist humidifier
